In stress? Check out your phase and yoga asanas to combat it

In the stressful situation of Covid-19, many of us are facing mental stress issues. Let’s see what stress is actually, Stress is basically a subjective response resulting in the manner we react to day to day state of affairs. From a yogic point of view, stress is a disease that can be under four phases. These can be understood as follows:-

1.Psychic Phase

This is marked by mild but constant psychology changes in behaviour.


1. Bad temper
2. Disturbed sleep
3. Restlessness

1. Balasana (Child Pose)
2. Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose)
3. Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose)
4. Shavasana (Corpse Pose)

2.Psychosomatic Phase

If the stress continues to be there for a long duration then in this there is an increase in the generalized physiological symptoms.


1. Occasional hypertension
2. Sudden tremors

2. Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend)
3. Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)

3.Somatic Phase

In this phase the malfunctioning of organs take place and also one begins to identify the disease state.


1. Brain-Targeted organ
2. Dropping blood pressure
3. Agony in brain and spine

Note: Yoga as a therapy is less effective in this phase and you may require other ways of treatment.

4. Organic Phase

This phase is marked by the full manifestation of diseases state. In a severe case, the psychological effects can arise end of life situations.


1. Ulcerated stomach
2. Chronic hypertension
3. Disease-fixed in the physical body
